Alliance Mayor of Newtownabbey Cllr Billy Webb and local South Antrim MLA David Ford have condemned the trouble in Ballyclare on Saturday night in which a number of vehicles were burned and six police officers were hurt.
Cllr Billy Webb said: “I was shocked and appalled by the events in Ballyclare on Saturday. This trouble has no place in our society.
“I hope that the police officers who sustained injuries during the riot are able to make full recoveries
Local South Antrim MLA Daviid Ford said: “The people behind this trouble are damaging the local community. Northern Ireland will be in the headlines for all the wrong reasons at a time when we are tyring to attract more tourists to our country.
“If anybody has any information about this trouble then they must contact the police.”
