Chris Lyttle MLA said: “The Maze site has so much potential and it would be very sad if political battles saw it’s potential as a location for a shared stadium lost.
“Good progress has been made on the site already – talks are ongoing with the RUAS, Ulster Aviation Society is doing good work there and I believe a shared stadium would complement plans well.
“I call on the new DCAL Minister to re-examine the possibility of building a shared stadium at the site. It would be the ideal venue for this type of project and has the potential to be a key economic driver for the region.
“I believe that creating a shared stadium is the way forward as opposed to the current plans of simply renovating the three existing stadia. We need to be ambitious and we must create a shared future for all, and the creation of a shared stadium would be a very positive development.”
