Lyttle appalled by armed robbery

Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has condemned those behind an armed robbery in the Clarawood area this afternoon. Two men robbed a delivery van at gunpoint while the driver was forced to lie at the back of the van. The men made off with cigarettes in a car but witnesses reported that they heard a gunshot as they were making their getaway but there were no injuries.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “I am shocked and appalled by this robbery. If reports are correct that a gun was fired during this robbery then we are dealing with thugs who have absolutely no regard for the lives of other people. Somebody could have been seriously injured or worse.

“This must have been a very traumatic experience for this driver and I hope he gets over his ordeal quickly.

“If anybody has any information about this robbery then they should contact the police. These people must be brought before the courts and held to account for their actions.”
