Alliance says people need chance to have their say on Iris Robinson issue

Castlereagh Council Alliance Leader Geraldine Rice has said the public must have their say on the Iris Robinson issue and a by-election for her former council seat is essential.

Cllr Geraldine Rice said: “This is about trying to restore people’s deeply damaged public confidence in politics.

“A by-election is essential. People want to have their say and we want to give them this opportunity.

“Any denial of election in this case on the basis of cost would be fundamentally wrong. Democracy requires the public must be given a voice on this issue.”
