Health Minster must act urgently on suspended services

Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has called on the Health Minister Michael McGimpsey to act urgently to address the suspension of gynaecological services at the Erne and Tyrone County Hospitals. His comments come after it was revealed that services were suspended because of a shortage of junior doctors

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This news is deeply worrying and I would call on the Health Minister to give this matter his attention immediately.

“This situation is simply unacceptable. People in the West have faced too much uncertainty about health services in recent times and now this news is another disgraceful bodyblow.

“The Minister must act quickly to reassure the public that these services will be resumed quickly, as this suspension should not be allowed to continue. People in Northern Ireland want strong, sustainable services and they will not settle for anything less.”
