McCarthy reassured on swine flu but says cash questions still exist

Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has said he is pleased at the reassurances provided on swine flu from Health Chiefs but said questions still need to be answered about where the £50 million to tackle the virus will come from.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “On Friday, I called for more clarity over who will receive the vaccine and I am pleased at the information provided by Health Chiefs here.

“Keeping the public informed of all plans is essential to ensure that they are assured that the authorities are well placed to tackle this virus.

“Questions do, however, still persist about where the £50 million that is needed to fund the strategy against swine flu will come from. We need clarity on this issue and people need to be kept informed about it.”
