Trevor Lunn MLA stated: “The Executive deadlock has been broken now for three weeks and still we haven’t heard a sound from the on the Maze stadium proposals.
“Media speculation is mounting that Scotland and Wales may co-operate with Northern Ireland in a joint application to host football’s European Championship. This news underlines why an announcement on the Maze stadium needs to be made urgently.
“I fear, however, that the Executive is ducking the most difficult issues. For example, we have still not heard anything on fuel poverty or the replacement of the 11-plus either.
“The Maze is a prime site and it would be almost criminal to waste the potential it holds for the Lisburn area and with wider region. The Executive is lost in a maze if it cannot see the massive opportunities that this site offers as a location for a new multi-sports stadium.
“Having the stadium located here would be a massive boost to the local economy and I cannot emphasise enough that chances like this do not come around very often.
“Whether the Executive likes it or not, the people of Lisburn will not tolerate any more delays on this vitally important issue for our city.”
