Séan Neeson MLA stated: “I am deeply concerned not only about the pipe bombs but also the ammunition find.
“Hopefully this is not a sign of tensions increasing in the locality. The last thing the area needs is thugs causing problems. The wider community has no time at all for individuals who would endanger lives and whip up tensions.
“People in some areas of Carrickfergus have had their lives made a misery because of a small minority who want to cause trouble. This is simply not on and the same must not happen in Newtownabbey. I would appeal for calm and would appeal for anyone with information on this find to contact police immediately.”
