The Strangford MLA said: “I strongly welcome the decision to not simply have one Health and Social Services Council, but instead to look at the benefits of the current system.
“I welcome the creation of a local commissioning board to deal with resourcing for trusts.
“Efficiencies must be made; however, they must be made in order to bolster frontline services, not downgrade them.
“The Minister has made a commitment to strengthen disease prevention. He must now deliver on this commitment.
“I am also glad to see that there will be democratic local input. I want to see the highest level of accountability to deliver the best possible service, tailored to the specific needs of local people.”
