Alliance Leader David Ford and South Antrim MLA is tabling a question to Minister Conor Murphy on what he plans to do to ease massive traffic problems facing residents of Hightown and Mayfield in Glengormley and those who work in Mallusk. The Hightown bridge is being closed for six weeks now and for a year in January, to allow improvements to the M2. The recommended diversion will involve them having to negotiate Sandyknowes roundabout.
David Ford MLA said: “I am tabling a special notice question to the Minister of Regional Development to ask what measures will be taken to alleviate the problem face local residents and workers.
“I would like to hear the Minister commit to providing a temporary bridge to alleviate this traffic chaos. This question will give MLAs a chance to discuss it in detail in the Assembly and help apply pressure on him to do so.”
