Belfast Alliance Councillor Máire Hendron has hit out at vandals who smashed windows at a church in East
Belfast.
Speaking after the attacks on the Ian Paisley’s Martyrs’ Memorial Free Presbyterian Church on the
Ravenhill Road, the Pottinger representative stated: “No matter what we think of the politics of those
running these establishments, mindless attacks like this simply serve no purpose.
“What precisely does such vandalism prove? It simply serves to divide our society and make it harder still
to build a better future for us all.
“It is quite clear that this is another example of ‘recreational’ thuggery. Community leaders must stand
together and oppose such shameful behaviour unreservedly.”
